Laser Treatment for Toenail Fungus

Healthy nails, fungal control

Concerned about discoloured, thickened or damaged nails?

Laser energy penetrates the nail to target fungal infections at the source, supporting the restoration of healthy, clear nails without systemic medication.

Changes in nail colour, thickness or texture may be signs of onychomycosis, but they can also be caused by other nail conditions. For this reason, fungal nail infection should be clinically and mycologically confirmed before laser treatment begins.

At Dermalaser Beauty Lounge in Paralimni, we offer laser treatment for confirmed onychomycosis using advanced Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser technology. Controlled energy is applied across the nail plate in a carefully monitored procedure.

The number of sessions varies according to the severity and extent of the infection, number of affected nails and individual response. Improvement is gradual as healthier-looking nail grows from the base, which can take several months. Reinfection remains possible, and additional medical or antifungal treatment may be required.

Common questions

How does laser treatment help fungal nails?

Laser energy is delivered through the nail to create an environment that is less favourable to fungal activity. The damaged nail still needs time to grow out, so visible improvement is gradual rather than immediate.

How long before I can judge the result?

Toenails grow slowly, so even when treatment is progressing well it can take months for healthier-looking nail to replace the affected section. More than one laser session is commonly required.

Do I need a confirmed fungal diagnosis first?

Nail changes can have causes other than fungus. If the diagnosis is uncertain, we recommend medical or laboratory confirmation before committing to a treatment course.
